House moves
Wales, in common with the rest of the UK, introduced the strict stay-at-home regulations at the end of March, and these regulations continue to be in force. If a moving date can be postponed, it should be postponed.
The Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (Wales) Regulations 2020) allows people to move house only where the move cannot be postponed.
While agents’ offices remain closed, many agents are working remotely to provide virtual viewings.
Guidelines under regular review
The Welsh Government reviews the stay-at-home regulations every 21 days and, on the basis of the latest available scientific evidence, considers whether they need to stay in place or whether they can be eased.
The regulations were renewed for three weeks following a review on May 7. Some very small adjustments came into force on May 12. These are:
- Allowing people to exercise more than once a day – exercise should be local to people’s homes
- Enabling garden centres to open, if they can comply with the physical distancing duty
- Enabling local authorities to begin the process of planning for libraries and recycling centres to open
