Focus, drive and market share

Tuesday 28 May 2019

Propertymark launches Propertymark Inspire, a brand new initiative, led by members and designed for members to benefit from industry leading trainers.

Most in the industry agree that the challenges facing the sector are amongst the most significant in living memory.

With reduced supply, an increasing volume of highly complex legislation to master and the evolving threat of powerful tech disruptors, principals and directors of independent agencies have to manage more than just their own business.

For most principals, partners and directors, a daily routine includes managing and motivating the team, trying to find ways to increase income, managing the costs of suppliers, ensuring the business does not fall foul of penalties and maintaining an overview of the business’s reputation and market share.

For this reason, Propertymark has devised Propertymark Inspire, a development programme designed exclusively for Principals, partners and directors who are in membership of NAEA Propertymark or ARLA Propertymark to provide ongoing support teamed with the compliance advice that your professional body is known for at a price and crucially at a cost that is not out of reach.

What do participants get?

  • Members take part in regular meetings in small groups comprising business owners and directors.
  • Focused agendas aimed at making front end tangible, contributions to each member company.
  • Participants benefit from one-to-one tailored mentoring and advice sessions.
  • Group conference calls offer the opportunity of tackling issues and pre planning for industry and legislative changes.
  • Highly regarded industry experts in specific fields aimed at equipping and advising participants on key aspects of the industry including, marketing, technical/web/SEO, business management, compliance, finance, HR and legislation to name but a few.

Participants benefit from one to one support, crucially alongside sharing ideas with similar noncompeting agents.

What do participants say?

Peter Maskell, Brock Taylor, Horsham, West Sussex

"I have a single office agency in Horsham and it’s been an interesting journey to come along to this as it’s always a case of trying to improve ourselves and look for things that are going to challenge us, because I suppose in a single office business, you can be quite insular and it’s better, I think, to look at new ideas that you can easily implement in your business.

"The nice thing about the course is it’s got some good take away values, there’s little snapshots, you can dip in and dip out off as much as you want, with not too much homework to do either, so that’s a positive. There’s been some really useful ideas that have come out of it, and things that you wouldn’t necessarily get access to or be involved with, so that’s definitely helped. I certainly recommend getting out your comfort zone. In order to support members find ways to ensure that their staff are motivated to share their objectives."

Simon Bentley, Mundys, Lincoln

"I found it very, very beneficial, it’s great meeting up with other business owners, learning and chatting about problems we’ve had and learning things as we’ve also had speakers in the mornings, which have been invaluable and today we’ve had a leadership speaker, so for me it’s been very beneficial and I highly recommend it."

Taj Gill, Streets Managing Director, Ahead Estate Agents, Derby

"I’ve been part of the Inspire sessions and have found it very informative and useful, especially the knowledge sharing ideas and best practices with estate agents in the sector, hopefully take those ideas and concepts back to our practice."

Peter Waterson, Watersons Property Sales and Rentals, Sale

"I am a two office estate agency firm in South Manchester and a single rental office that also covers that area. I decided to join the Inspire group in order to continue to develop myself personally as an estate agent and to develop my business. I’ve been an estate agent for 31 years and my own business for 19 years and do still feel it’s necessary to learn and personally develop. I am doing that for me and more importantly for my team, as they deserve to get the very best out of me. And the more knowledge I have the more info I can share with them, the more they will personally benefit and then in turn my business will benefit. I’ve been very pleased to be part of the Propertymark Inspire group."

Mark Hayward, Chief Executive, NAEA Propertymark said:

“The overriding theme is driving income, amplifying positive results and improving professional standards. We are using Propertymark’s unique position with industry stakeholders to give members insight as to future directions and also look at the emerging prop tech arena to gauge an understanding of what will work and, more importantly, what will not.

“Everyone in the group has different areas of strength, fantastic examples of incremental and dramatic successes along with practical challenges and the shared experience and growth of the group yields dramatic short, medium and longer term benefits for everyone involved.

“The aim is to learn, share, expand and improve.”

We are filling future Propertymark Inspire groups now. If you are an agency director who wants to build your business and provide great leadership to your staff, get involved in a forthcoming Propertymark Inspire group. To find out more, email inspire@propertymark.co.uk.
