The passing of a former NAEA Propertymark President

Monday 15 July 2019

David Ware, founder of the Ware & Co estate agent, based in Taunton, sadly passed away on 23 June aged 74.

David became president in 1991 and was an active member of the National Association of Estate Agents (now NAEA Propertymark) up until his retirement. He established his company in 1986 and worked as an estate agent in Taunton for 58 years.

He became an advocate for the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital after he had treatment for kidney failure, and he will be missed by staff and clients at Ware & Co.

His son, Simon, who worked with him for over 20 years said his father was dedicated to providing a good service to his clients and “always took the time” to make all of his clients and staff feel valued and loved his work as an estate agent.

NAEA Propertymark Fellow, Michael Jones, gave praise to David: "he was a great Ambassador for NAEA Propertymark and worked tirelessly to raise standards in the profession. As well as having been President of the National Association of Estate Agents, and served on many committees, he had also been the Business Practices Officer for a number of years."

Complementing further, Michael added: “In social circles, David was a very witty, self-deprecating man, with a great sense of humour. He was also a devoted family man, and a well-known and respected businessman who was very pro-active in his hometown of Taunton.”.

The Taunton community also mourned the loss of Peter Lee, a former NAEA Propertymark Fellow, a well-known estate agent and a former mayor of Taunton Deane and Wellington who died on June 24, aged 76.

Mark Hayward, Chief Executive NAEA Propertymark said: “it is always sad to hear the passing of those that served our industry over many years. Both David and Peter knew the benefits of progressing to Fellow, and indeed, being honoured as President as David was in 1991. NAEA Propertymark extends our condolences to their families.”
