Safety remains a priority as restrictions ease

Tuesday 13 April 2021

Yesterday, 12 April 2021, the UK Government amended advice on house moves following the easing of restrictions in England. Following measures to re-open retail in England, there is now more flexibility for branch managers to allow unscheduled visitors, however, adherence to safety guidance remains paramount.

Responsible Principals and Directors should assess what is appropriate in relation to the circumstances and size of each branch. Where any changes are made, safety procedures must be reviewed.

UK Government advice on house moves now stipulates that quarantine rules for international travel must be followed in relation to staff and clients.

In-person inspections

Agents are allowed to enter properties to carry out inspections and tradespeople continue to be allowed to carry out work, however, the guidance points out that where possible there should only be one person visiting the property at a time.

The latest guidance on inspections remains as 7 April 2021. Where there has been any interruption in routine inspections, ensure that you have documented all relevant activity.

Property viewings

Viewings must still be conducted by appointment and the UK Government strongly advise that virtual viewings continue to be used to minimise in-person viewings. Back-to-back and open house viewings are not permitted.
