Agents' offices in Wales allowed to open from 12 April

The Welsh Government has announced today, 1 April, lockdown restrictions will be eased further from Monday 12 April with all remaining non-essential retail and close contact services to reopen, and travel into and out of Wales from the rest of the UK and Common Travel Area will be permitted.

They also announced a series of measures that will take Wales fully into Alert Level 3 by 17 May, subject to public health conditions remaining favourable.

Impact for the sector

Agents’ offices will, therefore, be allowed to reopen to the public, however, strictly following the safety guidance is still paramount. The Welsh Government strongly advise that virtual viewings are used wherever possible, viewings of properties can take place, however, household mixing must be avoided during viewing. 

Associated activities, for example, removals processes, property preparation, handover of keys, surveys and valuations can also take place in line with guidance on working in other people’s homes.

Evictions continue to be suspended as part of The Public Health (Protection from Eviction) (Wales) (Coronavirus) Regulations

A ban on travel into Wales from outside the country will be lifted but the ban on international travel remains with travel only permitted into and out of Wales from other UK nations as well as the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, and the Republic of Ireland.

Other key dates

The Welsh Government also signalled further changes following the 22 April review, which will be subject to public health conditions and final confirmation by Ministers. A further review will then take place on 13 May:

26 April                                                                    

  • Outdoor attractions, including funfairs and theme parks, would be allowed to reopen
  • Outdoor hospitality can resume, including at cafes, pubs and restaurants. Indoor hospitality will remain restricted

3 May

  • Organised outdoor activities for up to 30 people can again take place
  • Weddings receptions can take place outdoors, but will also be limited to 30 people

10 May

  • Gyms, leisure centres and fitness facilities can reopen. This will include individual or one-to-one training but not exercise classes
  • Extended household will again allow two households to meet and have contact indoors
