Tim Wakelin

Tim has worked in the residential property industry for in excess of 25 years as an estate agent, letting & managing agent, trainer, and consultant, working with both single office independent companies and multi office organisations throughout the UK.

Tim has contributed to a number of articles in publications including The Estate Agent, Agreement Magazine, The Independent and The Financial Times in relation to risk management and residential property in the UK. He is a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents and holds the Association's Certificate in Residential Letting and Management.

David Beaumont

David is a former Trading Standards Officer. He spent 20 years working within the service before setting up his own consultancy business. In addition to training, he has been working with agents for the past 15 years, both proactively to reduce risks and reactively handling problems and complaints.

His experience on both sides of the fence places him in a unique position to advise agents on the whole range of trading standards related matters. As the NAEA Trading Standards Consultant he provides compliance advice to members through the NAEA hotline service.

Mark Hayward

Mark ran a UK-wide estate agency operation, covering sales, lettings and property management. He was also a director of a national financial services company. Subsequent to a successful MBO, he created a multi-disciplined firm covering all aspects of property.

Exiting this, Mark has acted as a consultant to developers national and regional, Housing Associations, city funds and property companies large and small, and has been MD of NAEA since 2013

Alistair George

Alistair’s property career started in 1993 with a work placement at a local Estate Agents office.  He completed a BSc (Hons) in Estate Management whilst working in Estate Agency and joined a Surveyor’s office in 2001. 

An experienced Chartered Surveyor, he now runs his own firm George and Company Surveyors, based in Rugby. The firm is involved in residential and commercial property services including valuation, surveys, property management and agency.

Richard Locke


Richard has been involved in the Residential Sales business since 2000 and has worked for both small independently owned agencies through to the large corporates. These have given him a varied overview of the industry, and allowed him to learn many different skills.


Richard is currently undertaking a Business Development role for the NFOPP which allows him to meet and gain the experiences of many of the leading Sales and Letting agents across the UK, as well as delivering training and updates on many of the latest legislation changes within the industry. He also works closely with the Directors of the NAEA and ARLA allowing him to gain information first hand.


Richard holds both the Technical Awards in Residential Sales, and Letting & Property Management and is constantly looking at ways to improve his knowledge across all areas of the UK property market.

Daryl McIntosh

Daryl is the Business Development Executive for the National Association of Estate Agents and Association of Residential Lettings.

With a back ground in law he has worked in the property industry in excess of 20 years at solicitor estate and letting agents in central Scotland.

He also represents the Associations and the membership at Government consultations and meetings ensuring that we can help shape any legislation for the benefit of the industry and also that we are aware of forthcoming legislation.

Daryl also sits on the board for The Property Ombudsman (Scotland) 

Janice Simpson

Janice Simpson has a BA (Hons) in Business Administration from Sheffield University. She is a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents, CeMAP qualified and has a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching from Ulster University (Distinction). Janice has had extensive industry success and teaching experience and is an expert trainer.

Christopher Hamer

Christopher Hamer has recently stood down as Property Ombudsman after nine years during which time workload of the scheme grew by 500% coveringsales, lettings, commercial, international, chattels auctions and residential leasehold management disputes. In his previous career Christopher has been Private Secretary to the Parliamentary Commissioner, Director of Services at the Insurance Ombudsman Bureau and the General Manager at the Personal Investment Authority Ombudsman Bureau. Immediately before taking up his position as Property Ombudsman he was in a global compliance role with a major international bank.

During his time as Ombudsman he considered it an important part of his role to contribute towards establishing best practice in the property agency sectorand to help avoid consumer dissatisfaction arising. He regularly published summaries of cases he determined, produced an Annual Report and continues to provide input to media articles, television and government and industry consultations.

Brian Schubert, MSc, MCIM

Brian is a an experienced Sales & Marketing professional who has worked for a number of high profile membership organisations including RICS, FMB and EEF. The focus with NAEA, ARLA and indeed all NFoPP Associations  is to maximise the effectiveness of all stakeholder marketing whilst increasing consumer brand awareness and developing positive brand dispositions and image perceptions.

At the heart of the marketing transformation that has been undertaken over the last 16 months is a pragmatic understanding of researching and prioritising member and prospect business needs in a way that adds real business benefits to their day-to-day operational requirements.

Brian is also a presenter for the CIM and writes for a number of educational journals.

Outside of work Brian is a keen runner having completed marathons in the UK, USA and Europe and supports the ‘best football team in the Midlands’ - The Foxes.

Graham has been in the estate agency for 20 years and operated a multi award winning four branch agency in Kent. He was also the co founder of a tenant eviction firm. Since selling his businesses Graham concentrates on his Consultancy, providing surveys and consultancy services to private Clients. He is also author of "The Property Triangle"

Hattie Sketchley-Bates

Hattie Sketchley-Bates CIPD is a HR and Training Consultant at Honest Employment Law Practice and has extensive experience of handling HR issues in the commercial world. Hattie is an engaging trainer who ‘works with’ delegates rather than ‘talks at’ delegates to create a relaxed but informative and relevant training session.

David Smith

David Smith gained his degree and doctorate in International Relations and worked as a university lecturer before retraining in law. He has successfully combined his academic experience with his legal training and now concentrates on following the complex changes in landlord and tenant law. He spends much of his time training and lecturing to landlords, lettings agents and solicitors on landlord and tenant matters. He is already widely seen as a key voice on this subject and is an acknowledged expert in the Housing Act 2004.
