"Brave the chill" - top
tips for selling your home during the winter
months
Winter is often seen as a low-point for property sales, but
there can be advantages of buying or selling a property in the
winter months.
"There are fewer homes for sale in the winter but also fewer
buyers which means less competition for both parties," said NAEA's
President, Wendy Evans Scott.
"Figures from NAEA members indicate that the number of active
house buyers tends to decline during the winter months, but that,
in the current economic climate, the number of homes available for
purchase and the number of sales agreed remains fairly constant
throughout the year - even during the winter months." *

* NAEA figures show that in January 2011 its members reported
that their branches had an average of 252 house buyers on their
books, compared to an average of 304 in the peak month of September
2011. However the number of properties available for purchase stood
at 69 and 72 respectively, and sales agreed at an average of 6 and
8 respectively.
