Run David, run!

Tuesday 21 March 2017

On 22 April, NAEA Propertymark member David Stuart-Smith of Andrew Grant Estate Agents will bravely take his place on the starting line of the London Marathon to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Research Centre.

David, who turns 70 later this year, was spurred on by his daughter Polly to join her for the London Marathon to try and repay Prostate Cancer Research for some of the lifesaving treatment which he had benefited himself.

Having been diagnosed with prostate cancer five years ago, David received radical surgery and made a rapid recovery partly aided by his daily running regime which he has been doing for 35 years now.

David has been overcome by the support and kindness of his colleagues and friends and has already raised over £5,000, smashing his original target of £2,500.

“Initially I had committed to raise £2,500 for the charity but even with weeks to go, I have surpassed that figure. I have been totally overwhelmed by the generosity of family, friends and colleagues and have been so touched by donations from people I don’t know personally. It’s enormously humbling and enforces, despite how much we hear otherwise, how intrinsically kind people are. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support.”

One of the first people to make a donation to David’s fund was Andrew Grant, who has also received treatment for prostate cancer. Andrew said, “Like David, I too was diagnosed with prostate cancer and am so very grateful for the excellent treatment I received. I am delighted to donate to such a worthwhile cause and wish David all the very best. We will all be cheering him on!”
