Copyright Warning: Educational Materials and Logos

From time to time it becomes apparent that there has been unauthorised copying of educational materials which are subject to copyright. Copyright applies to educational manuals (including the APIP best practice guidance), and to all courses material.

Members are asked to bear in mind that considerable time and expertise is invested in producing high quality materials, and that NFoPP Awarding Body's competitive charging structure depends upon materials only being obtained legitimately.

A copyright warning often appears in the materials themselves, but any queries as to whether or not copying is allowed can be posed to the Qualifications or Courses departments at Arbon House, telephone 0845 250 6008/0845 250 6007.

When there is evidence of intentional unauthorised copying/breach of copyright, legal action will be taken. Reimbursement of the legal costs incurred by the action will be sought, as well as the full purchase price of the materials which have been improperly obtained.

A related issue is abuse of members' discount on educational materials. Discounts only apply to materials which members intend using themselves. Members may not purchase materials at a discounted rate on behalf of colleagues.

Members should also note that,  if they cease their membership, or their membership is terminated by NFoPP for non-compliance, then they will no longer be eligible to use the logos or claim membership.   Such commercial practices are banned under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations (2008), and may lead to civil enforcement or criminal prosecution.
